A Latte Macchiato is a real café classic that is quick and easy to make at home.
Latte Macchiato means stained milk in Italian, and although a Macchiato is often confused with a Caffe Latte, there are some basic differences.

Firstly, with a Macchiato, you add hot milk to an Espresso. With a Latte, it is the other way around. A Macchiato is not as strong in taste as a Latte, as smaller amounts of Espresso are used. Last but not least, a Macchiato is known for its layers of coffee and milk, as opposed to a Latte where the milk and Espresso are mixed together. Popularly speaking, a Caffe Latte is coffee-based, whereas a Macchiato is milk-based.
